Board of Management

The board's main function is to manage the school on behalf of the patron and for the benefit of the students and to provide an appropriate education for each student at the schoolThe principal is responsible for the day-to-day management of the school

The board is accountable to the patron, Most Rev. William Crean D.D. Bishop of Cloyne, and the Minister for Education, Norma Foley.

The Board of Management is the decision making body of the school and is made up of eight members. They hold a four year term of office. The Board is comprised of the Chairperson, Principal, two parent nominees (a father and a mother), two patron nominees, one teacher and two community nominees elected by the Board of Management. The Board of Management meets approximately five times every year.

Boards of Management are responsible for the direct government of schools and duties include the following:

  • The appointment of teachers and ancillary staff;
  • Approving school closures;
  • Approving teacher absences for a variety of reasons;
  • The appointment of teachers to deputy/principal and other posts of responsibility;
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation; and
  • Ensuring that schools are adequately insured and maintained.

The term of office for new boards of management is from 1 December 2023 to 30 November 2027 and consists of:
